In order to collect numerous points of view about Loach’s movie, The Wind that Shakes the Barley, I first endeavoured to read a large number of critics that were published in different newspapers when released : mostly English ones and Irish ones. I also spent some time studying some papers and books about the Irish War of Independence and the Irish Civil War written by historians, both from the English and from the Irish side, in an effort to enlighten the objective dimension of the film.
